Infused bath salts

I ♥ girly things like bubble baths and bath salts. I don't like paying a gazzilion bucks for something that goes down my drain, though.

Infused bath salts are easy, quick and cheap to make in bulk. In pretty decorated containers, they make wonderful gifts for teachers, Girl Scout leaders and neighbors. You can use any essential oils you like, but lavender makes for an especially yummy experience.

To make this recipe you will need:
1/4 cup olive oil
2 pounds of Epsom salt
1 cup baking soda
Essential oil of your choice.

In a sauce pan warm oil over low heat.  Remove from stove. Add 20-30 drops essential oil. The scent will be very strong, but that's ok, you will be diluting it.

In a large bowl mix epsom salt and baking soda. Stir to mix completely. Slowly add scented oil mix, a few drops at a time, mixing thoroughly.

If desired, add 1-2 drops of food coloring. Stir until color is evenly distributed. Store in air tight containers.

To use, add 1/2 cup under running warm water.

Variation: Tea infused bath salts.
Warm oil on stove. Add two tea bags and allow to infuse over night. Discard tea bags before adding to salt mix. Peppermint tea is my favorite!
